MEMBERS of the public will once again be able to vote on which community projects should get a share of £20,000 funding.
The third “It’s Up 2 U” event designed to give residents a say on how cash is spent in the Derwent Valley area has been launched.
Residents will vote for their preferred project in November but local groups can now apply to take part in the scheme, which is organised by the Derwent Valley Partnership.
Residents will then vote on which projects should be awarded grants of between £500 and £2,000 for projects in five categories chosen by the public: activities for children and young people; employment, education, training and regeneration; older people; health and wellbeing or culture art and tourism.
Corinne Walton, Area Action Partnership co-ordinator, said: “We are proud to launch our third It’s Up 2 U scheme to enable residents to decide how local money is spent in the area.
“The previous schemes have provided an excellent opportunity for groups and organisations to come together and meet each other and there have been some fantastic projects delivered.
“Why not get in touch to find out more about the scheme and what is on offer”.
For more information and to receive an application pack, contact a member of the Derwent Valley Partnership team on 03000 260 725 or email dvaap@durham.gov.uk
The deadline for completed applications is noon on Friday, September 4.
