TWO authors who have written a graphic novel about the suffragettes will discuss their work with readers next week.

Bryan and Mary Talbot, from Sunderland, will visit Consett Library on Tuesday (June 23) as part of Read Regional 2015.

The annual campaign, run by New Writing North in partnership with 19 library authorities, brings emerging and established writers to communities across the North East and Yorkshire.

Their book “Sally Heathcote: Suffragette” tells the inside story of the campaign for votes for women and on Tuesday will meet members of Consett library’s book group.

Mary Talbot said: “We’ll be giving an illustrated talk about the book as well as discussing more generally what graphic novels have to offer.

“It’s the first time a graphic novel has ever been included in Read Regional and it’s a great opportunity for us to get more readers interested in them.”

The talk starts at 2pm. Places can be booked in advance by visiting the library or calling 03000 269 513.
