A TRANSPORT company is to sponsor a team of hospice nurses for the next 12 months.

Delves Lane-based Elddis Transport is to donate £750 per month for the coming year to sponsor nursing care at Willow Burn Hospice, near Lanchester.

One of the company’s fleet of vehicles has been decked out in livery backing the hospice.

Earlier this year, the hospice launched a campaign to get local supporters and businesses to sponsor nurses at the hospice, which has to raise its own funds to keep going.

Nigel Cook, managing director at Elddis Transport and a trustee of Willow Burn, said “The hospice is such an important resource for our local community that we decided that we had to get right behind this campaign.

“We’ve had the front cab wrapped with Willow Burn Hospice livery and registered the DAF rigid with distinctive number plate W111OWH which will deliver throughout the North East.

“We’ve also promoting the campaign on the rear doors of the truck so others can get behind this campaign’.

Five of the dedicated nursing team had their photograph taken which has been used to promote the campaign on the rear doors of the truck.

Sue Spencer Head of Care Services said ‘the team are proud to be promoting the hospice and the dedicated nursing care delivered to hundreds of patients each year with life limiting illnesses and we are so grateful to Elddis Transport for their continuing support and generosity”.
