A TRIBUTE band playing the hits of T-Rex is coming to north Durham.

T.Rextasy is bringing its I Love To Boogie show to the Empire Theatre in Consett on Saturday, March 21.

Hits of 70s glam rock band include 20th Century Boy, Ride a White Swan, Children of the Revolution and Telegram Sam.

Jools Howes, from Sweeney Entertainments, the company behind the show, said: “T.Rextasy are the only band to have been authorised and endorsed by Marc Bolan’s Catalogue Management and are officially recognised as the worlds' number one group dedicated to the greatest glam rocker of them all, Marc Bolan of T.Rex.

“They have been performing around the world for over 20 years, a career that outlives Marc’s very own T.Rex.

“The band has been described by many as beyond the boundaries of tribute.”

Bill Legend, the original T.Rex drummer, has said: “They are the closest you are ever going to get to the real thing.”

Tickets cost £19, £18 concessions, and can be booked by calling 01207-218-171.
