SUPPORTERS of a hospice are being invited to sponsor a nurse.

Willow Burn at Maiden Law, near Lanchester, announced the innovative campaign as part of a bid to raise £100,000.

The hospice, which celebrated its 25th anniversary last year, has organised a major fundraising campaign to open a £2.2m in-patient hospice in coming years.

Sue Spencer, Head of Clinical Services, said: “Willow Burn Hospice is there for all of the family.

“They care for people and do all that they can to improve the experience for all those living with a life-limiting illness, when it really counts.

“We believe that every person is unique and therefore through our staff and volunteers we strive to make it possible for each individual’s independence and dignity to be maintained.

“Whether the support comes from our specialised nursing team, from mutual sharing, from nutritious meals, from relaxing with complementary therapies, from one-to-one counselling or from helping children through play, the hospice hopes to continue to be there for all of the family and that’s why we need your help”.

Just £10 can pay for a nurse for half an hour while donations of £3250 will pay for a nurse for a month.
