AN amateur pantomime is being dedicated to a community theatre stalwart who died before Christmas.

CBS Musical and Stage Society, who worked with Hughie Malone, several times over the years, is collecting money for charity in his name.

The group is staging its production of Peter Pan at the Empire Theatre in Consett next week, from Monday to Saturday at 7pm, with a 2pm matinee on the last day.

Mr Malone, who regularly played the dame, died in November aged 80.

Director Virginia Aken said: “The pantomime is dedicated to Hughie Malone who sadly died last year and a collection at the end of the evening with go to his family’s selected charities.”

Luke Henderson will be playing Peter Pan, the boy who will never grow up and Neil Pears will play the dame, Lola Lambchop the cook on board the Jolly Roger.

Captain Hook is played by Arron Kidd with Philip Richardson as Smee, Emma Harrison as Wendy.

James Grainger and Jack Harrison and Sonny Usher and Oliver Matthews Robertson and playing Michael and John on alternate nights. Chris Ledger and Mick Stafford provide comic chaos, and Tinkerbell, Elaine Robertson, and Tiger Lily, Mollie McIver, provide the fairy glamour, with Emily Edwards, Anna Diamond, Olivia Stafford, Annette Hawkins and Charley Matthews Robertson leading the Lost Boys Ms Aken said “It is a good family fun and a great treat for all ages.

“This much loved children’s traditional story is given a typical pantomime twist which will leave you with a big smile as you leave the theatre.
