A VILLAGE is gearing up for its popular annual agricultural show.

The event will be held on Sunday (July 6) at Newhouses Farm, on the A691 near Lanchester, Stanley.

Organisers of the Lanchester Agricultural Society are hoping good weather will bring the crowds out to enjoy a mixture of competitions and activities.

One of the main attractions at the event will be the horse classes, which this year will include jumping as well as showing for the first time in years.

Show secretary Charlotte Miller said: “We have got cattle, sheep, goats, lots of kids’ rides, a climbing wall, archery, a petting zoo and a dog show.

“We are trying to get it back to being an agricultural show where the public are more involved. Hopefully it will be a scorcher on Sunday.”

The show runs from 8.30am to 5pm. Admissions costs £5 and £3 for concessions.

Entries can still be made for the horse classes, in advance or on the day.
