A MAN who kicked a door after an argument with his partner may lose out on a trip to Disneyland, his solicitor told a court.

John Morgan, of Second Avenue, Chester-le-Street, pleaded guilty to criminal damage at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court yesterday.

The court heard how the 27-year-old damaged the UPVC door at the home he rents from his father, following an argument with his partner.

Matthew Purvis, mitigating, said he did not see why the matter could not have been dealt with at the police station and his father, who attended court, supported him.

"The only concern unfortunately, is by virtue of him pleading guilty, it may affect their family holiday to Disneyland in Florida," he said. "It's my frustration rather than his but perhaps this is something that can be dealt with in the most lenient terms."

Morgan was given a conditional discharge for six months and ordered to pay £85 in costs and a £25 victim surcharge.
