A DRIVER who became violent with police and threatened them with his dog was arrested after officers tasered him.
The 28-year-old motorist was stopped after he was seen driving a silver Vauxhall Vectra in an erratic manner, at excess speed, veering into oncoming traffic up the A693 and into Ouston, near Chester-le-Street.
The incident happened on Monday evening.
A spokesman for Durham Contabulary said: “The vehicle was stopped and the driver, a 28-year-old man, was extremely aggressive and violent towards officers, at one point threatening officers with his Staffie type dog which was also highly agitated due to the driver’s agitated state.
“The driver resisted arrest and was subsequently tasered.”
The man arrested for drug driving, affray, resisting arrest and having no insurance.
Inquiries are ongoing.
