A CHARITY which runs arts projects for young people with cancer has been given £1,000 to help it with its work.

Henry Dancer Days, based in Cornsay, near Lanchester, provides support to bone cancer patients and their families who are suffering financial hardship and also through a distraction arts project for the patients themselves.

It has been given £1,000 by Persimmon Homes as part of its community champions scheme.

Jane Nattrass, who founded the charity in memory of her son, Henry Dancer, said: “It is through donations like this that we are able to keep supporting families and children at a most unimaginable time.

“As one of our children said, giving money may seem like a small thing to do, but you are shining a light on someone in a very dark place. This kindness, unlike our bodies, will stand the test of time.”

Christine Cooper, from Persimmon, said: “The care and support offered by Henry Dancer Days is truly priceless and we are glad to be able to offer our support by making the donation through our community champions scheme.”

Grants of £1,000 are available.
