A DRIVER had a lucky escape after a car burst into flames on a County Durham motorway.
Dramatic photographs of the incident on the A1(M) near Chester-le-Stsreet have been released by firefighters.
Crews extinguished the blaze in the vehicle between Carrville and Chester-le-Street on Sunday afternoon.
A spokesman for County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service said: “The fire was swiftly extinguished by Durham Red Watch and luckily no-one was injured.”
