PRESCRIPTION drugs have been stolen during an overnight burglary from a pharmacy in Great Lumley, near Chester-le-Street in County Durham.

Intruders took morphine, fentanyl and oxycodone from Lumley Pharmacy in the early hours of Tuesday.

Police have warned that the stolen drugs could prove fatal if taken incorrectly. A small amount of cash was also stolen.

A spokesman for Durham Constabulary, said: “Public safety is paramount and if anyone is offered these tablets we would strongly advise that they do not take them as they could prove fatal.

“Anyone with information about this incident should call police on 101 quoting reference number 29 of October 31.”
