A FOOTBALL club has installed a defibrillator at its new home.

Hilda Park RFC recently moved into new premises at the former Pelton Roseberry School, in Newfield, near Chester-le-Street.

The Football Association and British Heart Foundation are working together to offer vital defibrillators for sale at discounted rates to be installed at grounds around the country.

The life-saving equipment was paid for with a donation from local councillors Tracie Smith and Danny Wood through their neighbourhood budget funds.

The club, formed in 1979, operates a number of teams from the site ranging from an under sevens squad up to the First Team.

Cllr Smith said “I am really pleased to have been able to support Hilda Park FC with the purchase of a defibrillator for the club”.

Cllr Wood added “I am sure that this will not just be an asset for the villages but also for the wider community.”
