A POPULAR fireworks display is to return this year.

Organisers of the Riverside Fireworks display have announced that the event will once again take place in Chester-le-Street on Sunday, November 5.

The event was first held last year and proved a success with thousands of spectators gathering in Riverside Park.

This year’s event will feature a spectacular Witches and Wizards-themed fireworks display set to music.

There will also be a funfair, food and refreshments and children’s fancy dress competition along with live music from up-and-coming North-East entertainers Channy Thompson and Melody 5.

Carl Marshall, director of organisers Stanley Events, said: “Last year’s event was fantastic and this year we are expecting tickets to sell out really fast.

“This year’s theme of Witches and Wizards should prove popular with families and the grand finale of the event will be a fully choreographed fireworks display.”

The gates for Riverside Fireworks will open at 4.30pm on Bonfire Night and the display will begin at 6.30pm.

Tickets are available now from riversidefireworks.co.uk priced £5, or free for children under the age of six.

There are a limited number of on-site parking spaces available.

The event is held in partnership with the Fire Fighters Charity and the Durham Agency Against Crime.
