STAFF and residents have enjoyed a Hawaiian themed annual summer barbecue.
Colourful shirts, grass skirts and Hawaiian lei were on show at the event in Pelton Grange Care Home, Chester-le-Street.
Families and friends joined in the fun, which included a tribute to Elvis Presley from Alex McRae, on the anniversary of the singer’s death in August 1977.
A paddling pool beach was set up for the grandchildren while adults enjoyed a barbecue.
Home manager Les Burnett said: “We hold a summer barbecue every year, come rain or shine, because our residents just love it.
“This year, we had a Hawaiian theme, and also marked the 40th anniversary of Elvis’s death. We have lots of fans in the home and they thoroughly enjoyed the music.
“Families and friends brought their youngsters along and we had a great, family-friendly day. It was delightful to see the children interacting with the residents.
“I always feel like these events help bring the community together and we hope to see more attending in future.”
