A WOMAN who has been diagnosed with terminal ovarian cancer has sold everything she owns in a desperate bid to save her life.

Lisa Harris has nothing left after selling her family home, cars and using retirement money to fund treatment.

The 46-year-old’s daughter, Lori, tirelessly trawled the internet in an attempt to find a cure for her mother in January after NHS doctors said there was nothing more they could do.

Miss Harris, 26, discovered the Hallwang Clinic in Stuttgart, Germany, and the family managed to successfully raise £72,000 by selling their belongings to fund two weeks of immunotherapy treatment.

Ms Harris, who lives in Chester-le-Street, County Durham, was told that the treatment was working, but now she needs more cash to fund further rounds of treatment.

Ms Harris and her daughter will face 1,600 mile round-trips so that she can receive the £23,000 treatment in Germany every three weeks.

Ms Harris, who now lives in a two bedroom rented flat, said: “It’s devastating to have to sell all I have worked for all my life to be left with only the basics, but I have no choice.

“As long as I am alive, the basics are all I need.

“The treatment is everything to me. It’s a chance for a future free of cancer

and to see my daughter and grandchildren grow. It’s my last hope.”

The mother-of-one was diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer in 2015,

shortly after her own mother died.

She was given intensive rounds of gruelling chemotherapy as well as a

hysterectomy on the NHS to rid her of the disease.

Ms Harris went into remission but in January this year she was told the cancer had returned and that the NHS could only offer palliative chemotherapy.

Miss Harris, who studies Nutrition at King’s College London, said: “If money wasn’t an issue we could get rid of it.

“It’s really heart-breaking to think that the only thing stopping us from curing

her cancer is money.

“We are hoping we will be able to raise enough money for the treatment.

“I’ll never forgive myself if we don’t.”

Ms Harris raised raise £30,000 from the sale of her house, £5,000 from selling

her car and £10,000 from a general auction of her belongings which included

tickets to see Ed Sheeran.

She was also able to release £27,000 from her pension to add to the fund and

now has nothing left.

The family is appealing for help with an online fundraising page and already has over £72,000 of a £200,000 goal.

Miss Harris said: “I wouldn’t think twice about selling it all again. My mum’s life means more.

“The hardest thing isn’t selling our belongings.

“It’s having nothing left to sell.

“But we hope with the help of all of the donations coming in she will live for

decades.”
