SCHOOLCHILDREN have designed stickers to try to persuade dog owners to clean up after their pets.

Pupils from Chester-le-Street CofE Primary School in South Pelaw came up with the design for the stickers after working with neighbourhood wardens from Durham County Council’s Civic Pride team.

The stickers are currently being developed, to try to keep the area free from dog fouling as part of a new Public Space Protection Order which came into force last month.

Councillor Tracie Smith, who funded the project at worked with the school to encourage children to think about what they can do to keep the free from dog fouling, was joined at the launch event by local MP Kevan Jones, who brought his own dog Biff with him, to congratulate children on their work.
