RAIDERS have got away with thousands of pounds in cash after breaking into a sandwich shop store and forcing open its safe.
Police were called to a report of a burglary at Subway in Front Street, Chester-le-Street, which is believed to have taken place overnight on last Thursday.
A police spokesman said: "Thieves forced a metal roller shutter and wooden door to enter the property and stole around £2,600 from a safe."
