A PLANNING application has been lodged to build 69 houses on the edge of a village.
Bellway Homes wants to build the homes on four-hectares of farmland next to Scorers Lane in Great Lumley, near Chester-le-Street.
The proposed development would include two, three and four bedroom houses, 10 of which would be classed as affordable.
The developers, who say 30 jobs would be created during construction, say they have held community consultation meetings with Great Lumley Parish Council and a public exhibition at Lumley Community Centre ahead of submitting an application.
A decision will be made by Durham County Council during the next few weeks.
