TABOOS around death and dying will be challenged at a series of sessions.

St Cuthbert’s Hospice is organising the free sessions in Chester-le-Street.

Louise Johnson, Community Liaison Officer at the hospice, said: “This is a really important project.

“We need to make death part of life instead of something that creeps out of the darkness, it is coming to everyone.

“We just don’t talk about it anymore and that can make it more difficult to cope for the dying and those being bereaved once the time comes.”

Sessions start on June 21 and run through to August, covering wills, power of attorney and funerals.
