LIFE saving equipment has been donated by a Masonic charity.

Durham Benevolence is providing a defibrillator to be used by people in Chester-le-Street.

The charity has teamed up with North-East Hearts With Goals to provide the equipment which will be installed outside the Masonic Hall in the town on Saturday.

Charity spokesman Phil Heaviside said: “We are making it a weekend of celebration, marking 300 years since the formation of the United Grand Lodge of England.

“The defibrillator will be handed over late on Saturday afternoon but from 7.30pm on Friday we will be having a beer festival which continues on Saturday from 1pm.

“The festival proceeds will be donated to The Royal Masonic Trust for Girls and Boys and three £300 grants will also be given to local charities.”
