EMERGENCY services were called to Chester-le-Street on Sunday evening after a collision between a car and motorcycle.

The motorcycle, which was carrying a man and a woman, was in a collision with a car on Lombard Drive at approximately 7.11pm.

It is believed the man escaped unhurt but the woman was tended to by paramedics at the scene of the accident after complaining of hip pain. 

A fire crew from High Handelhold was in attendance to deal with a fuel spill on the road following the collision.

The road was reopened just before 8pm.
