CHILDREN are hoping to take the chequered flag with an electric kit car they won in competition.
Year 5 pupils at Bournmoor Primary School, near Chester-le-Street, have been assembling the car following a competition run through Newcastle University’s Jet Propulsion Centre.
The children, who were joined for two workshops by the university’s Dr James Widmer, all had a chance to assemble part of the car, using a range of hand tools and working from detailed instructions
They are hoping to get help from Nissan to create a body for the car in preparation for a race at Croft Circuit, near Darlington,on June 28 followed by Rockingham Raceway.
