STUDENTS at a north Durham school are learning about healthy living in a unique way.
The Growing Healthy bus is working with young people from Park View Community School in Chester-le-Street.
It features a private consultation area where hundreds of children and young people across the county are being given the chance to speak to specially trained public health nurses.
Assistant headteacher Morag Wilson said: “The health bus being on site provides an informal opportunity for our young people to speak to our school nurse and allows them to ask questions which may otherwise go unasked.”
The bus health team offers advice and assess health, and are the first point of contact for schools when there are concerns about a child’s health and wellbeing.
School nurse Patricia Bannister said: “I have been looking forward to working with the students at Park View School on a weekly basis and supporting them to become healthy adults.”
