A CHARITY grant will brighten up the lives of children with cerebral palsy.

The Heel and Toe children’s charity, in Chester-le-Street, has been awarded just under £980 to buy a new bubble wall for its sensory room.

The grant is one of five made by The Children’s Foundation to support cerebral palsy projects across the North-East.

Amanda Tweedy, from Heel and Toe, said: “The previous Bubble Machine had been broken for some time and so we had one corner of the room which was unfortunately left in darkness.

“Children who come to the Heel and Toe Centre love the Sensory Room and spend a lot of time in there interacting with the various machines, so it will be fantastic to have it all looking lovely and bright again.”

Among the other grants was a £1,500 donation to Cerebral Palsy Sport to run a weekly football club.

Kerry McCormack, from the Children’s Foundation said: “Nearly £5,500 was awarded this round and we hope this will encourage other groups to think about applying for a Regional Small Grant”.
