THREE talented pupils from the same primary school have won gift vouchers in a national European Day of Languages competition.

Children from Roseberry Primary and Nursery School in Pelton, near Chester-le-Street wrote invitations in French from famous people inviting them to an event.

Rosie Barr, aged nine, impressed judges with her invite from Hermione Grainger asking her to join the Harry Potter character on a magical adventure.

Rhiannon Robson, aged 10, received an invite from Coco Chanel to a red carpet event, while Jessica Thornton, aged 10, wrote as Elvis Presley, inviting her to his funeral.

Headteacher June Lee said: “We are very proud of the girls.

“To have so many winners in a national competition from one school is incredible”.
