A COUPLE who met while battling The Banker on Deal or No Deal are now planning their wedding - and hope presenter Noel Edmonds will attend.

Graham Whipp and Lyn Carr hit it off after Edmonds played Cupid on the set of the Channel 4 show almost two years ago. They got engaged recently during a helicopter ride across the coast of Florida.

Civil servant Graham, 43, from Essex, won £50,000 while fellow contestant Lyn, 44, from Chester-le-Street, County Durham, scooped £6,000.

They are planning an engagement party in December at The Chilton Country Pub and Hotel, near Fencehouses.

Lyn said: “We were on holiday and he asked me on a whim. He wasn’t expecting to and I wasn’t expecting it, but we have set a date now and are having an engagement party in December.

“A lot of the fellow contestants are travelling up for that. It will give us a little time for Graham and his family to come up from Essex, as he is still living down there and building a house.

“We are still doing the long distance thing.”

Lyn and Graham appeared on Deal Or No Deal in November 2014.

When it came time for Lyn to reveal her box as Graham took on The Banker, she told him he was 'the nicest man' she had ever met

On air, Noel cheekily asked them if they were single, to which they both replied 'yes'.

After spending two weeks filming together in Bristol they became closer and travelled up and down the country to see each other.

Lyn introduced Graham to her four children: Sophie, 24, Chloe, 22, Max, 15, Evan, 11, and they started going on holidays together.

They are the first couple to marry after meeting and appearing on the show together and Lyn plans to invite Noel Edmonds to the wedding in 2018.

She said: “Graham had told the production crew he had a soft spot for me and I think Noel had been given the heads up so he was making a bit of mischief.

“He was joking about it and I think that is what gave Graham the courage to say ‘I would love to take you out’.

“He left it right until the end because after that you just go home.

“Everyone else said they knew because we were being very flirtatious, but I am just friendly. Maybe I was flirting a bit to be fair.

“Everybody we did the show with says this a true love story and this was just meant to be.”
