A CHARITY event with a magical feel is being held in the grounds of the Lambton Castle estate, near Chester-le-Street.

Biddick Hall will provide the backdrop for the Alice in Wonderland-themed day next month to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

The Mad Hatter’s Picnic and Charity Walk will be in the gardens of the hall on Sunday, July 3, starting at noon.

The day will feature all the favourite characters from the classic children’s book and a giant tea party.

Everyone attending can join in the fun and bring their picnic to raise money for a good cause.

It has been organised by North-East event management company, She’s Gott It!

Managing director, Nickie Gott, herself a survivor of cancer, said: “We did this two years ago and have had requests ever since to do it again.

“The last event was a roaring success and the location in the maze garden is perfect for this type of event for people of all ages.

“We are once again going to stage a giant Mad Hatter’s Picnic and also encourage people to do their own fundraising by undertaking a walk through the amazing grounds of the estate.

“This will certainly help raise as much as we can for this amazing organisation.”
