A MAD Hatters’ picnic and charity walk will be the centrepiece of a charity event staged in the grounds of a country estate.

The Alice in Wonderland-themed festivities take place against the backdrop of Biddick Hall, on the Lambton Castle Estate, near Chester-le-Street, on Sunday July 3, from 12-noon.

It is the second Adventures in Wonderland charity fundraiser for Cancer Research UK, following a successful maiden event two years ago, on the estate - which provided the setting for BBC’s recent retail costume drama, The Paradise.

It will feature all the favourite Wonderland characters and a giant tea party, with visitors invited to bring a picnic to help raise funds for the good cause.

Organiser Nickie Gott, who is managing director of event management company She’s Gott It!, is herself a cancer survivor, said: “As an event management company that love providing great experiences we thought what better way to raise money than holding our own event.

“Our offices are in the beautiful grounds of the Lambton Estate and, having done this two years ago, we’ve had requests ever since to do it again.

“The last was a roaring success and the location in the maze garden is perfect for this type of event, for people of all ages.

“We are once again going to stage a giant Mad Hatters’ Picnic and also encourage people to do their own fundraising by undertaking a walk through the amazing grounds of the estate."
