SINGER/songwriter Ben Montague has been revealed as the support act for Simply Red’s performance in Chester-le-Street next month.
The British musician will open the show when the chart-topping band perform at the Emirates Riverside International Cricket Ground on Friday, June 3.
Last year, Montague supported Simply Red, Suzanne Vega and Boyzone on their respective tours and has now released his new single We Start Over to coincide with his performance in County Durham.
He said: “Having toured with Simply Red last year on their Big Love tour, which was brilliant fun, I am so pleased to be joining them once again at the Durham concert.
“It is such an honour to work with one of our country’s most iconic bands and to be a part of their 30th anniversary comeback.”
Montague, whose career began in 2010 with singles from what would become his debut album Overcome, has also performed live with The Lighthouse Family, Stereophonics and The Wanted.
Tickets for the Chester-le-Street show range from £32.50 to £60 and are available from www.ticketmaster.co.uk, www.simplyred.com or www.durhamccc.co.uk.
Gates open at 4pm.
