A TEAM from one of the region’s law firms hope to prove they are no sticks-in-the-mud when they tackle a daunting assault course for charity.

Partners, solicitors, accounts staff and support personnel who work for Hewitts Solicitors are taking part in the No Ego Mud Challenge, held at Lambton Castle, in Chester-le-Street, on Saturday, May 14.

Billed as “five miles of military-inspired hell”, the No Ego Mud Challenge is said to be one of the UK’s toughest assault courses.

As part of the gruelling challenge, members of Team Hewitts will face more than 50 obstacles, including knee deep mud, unforgiving forest tracks, freezing cold lakes and wading through the River Wear.

Hewitts partner Darren Brown said: “We know it’s going to be tough, but everyone is training hard – and we are doing it for a great cause.”

The team is hoping to raise hundreds of pounds for the Heel and Toe children’s’ charity based in Pelton, Chester-le-Street.

Heel and Toe was set up in 2008 to provide therapy for youngsters with cerebral palsy and other disabilities via a state-of-the-art therapy centre.

To help Mr Brown prepare for his ordeal, youngsters Harrison Jones and Robert Campbell gave him a taste of what’s to come – by pouring a bucket of mud over his head as part of a charity mud bucket challenge last week.
