PEOPLE who withdrew money from a North-East cashpoint targeted by fraudsters could be victims of a scam, police have warned.

The incidents, in which a ‘skimming’ device was attached to ATMs, happened at Barclays Bank in Chester-le-Street in December 2015 and February this year.

Anyone who used one of the two Barclays cashpoints on Front Street in Chester-le-Street and was unable to retrieve their card on December 9-12, 15, 17 and 29 and February 13, 18 and 19, is asked to contact Detective Constable Sarah Hindmarsh.

Two men, aged 31 and 39, have been charged with conspiracy to commit fraud and remanded in custody to appear before Peterlee Magistrates’ Court on May 17.
