CHARITY fund raisers have swam, spun and sprinted their way to success.
Two sports centres, the Riverside Leisure Complex in Chester-le-Street and the Freeman’s Quay Leisure Centre in Durham, held a series of events to raise money for Sports Relief.
Around 200 children from Red Rose Primary School and St Cuthbert’s RC Primary School, in Chester-le-Street, completed one mile on the outdoor running track at Riverside Leisure Complex.
At Freeman’s Quay, more than 50 swimmers took part in an hour-long aquathon, while an amazing 228 volunteers, including students from Durham Sixth Form school, took part in a 24-hour spinathon on static cycles.
During the event, cyclists completed just over 2,500 miles, the equivalent of cycling from Durham to Athens.
The three events raised £700 for the annual charity appeal.
