RESIDENTS are being invited to a public meeting to have their say about the future of their town.

A public forum takes place in Chester-le-Street on Monday (Apr 11) at which people who live in the area can help identify priorities for the coming year.

The annual public forum is organised by Chester-le-Street and District Area Action Partnership.

Residents will be able to find out more about local developments such as the Town Centre Master Plan, while local agencies will offer information on issues including the local Foodbank, the introduction of new fibre Broadband Internet in the area as well as health and wellbeing projects.

Staff from the Area Action Partnership will outline what they have been doing over the last year and reveal details of events coming up in the Chester-le-Street area over the coming months including a comic convention and car rally.

Area Action Partnership co-ordinator Andrew Megginson said: “The Forum event is a great way of finding out what is important to local people and how our local funding should be directed to tackle these issues. I would encourage people to come along and get involved”.

The public forum takes place at Park View School in Chester-le-Street on Monday at 6pm, with registration from 5.45pm.
