SHELTERED housing residents raised money for charity with an Easter parade.

Residents of two sheltered housing schemes in Birtley held an Easter-themed event to raise money for St Oswald’s Hospice, with the final total raised yet to be announced.

Residents of the Birtley Villas and Croftside schemes enjoyed a pie-and-peas meal, raffle, bingo and prize competitions for the best Easter bonnet and paste egg.

Staff at Gateshead Housing Company’s sheltered housing services have supported St Oswald’s for almost 20 years, with regular events to help the cause.

Sheltered Housing Estate Officer Marion Ranson said: “The day has been fantastic. Everyone got really involved, and put in lots of effort with their decorated eggs and Easter bonnets.

“It was great fun, and we’ve raised a lot of money for a charity that’s very close to our hearts.”
