A HOLIDAYMAKER whose pancreas burst in a Cuban hospital has suffered complications, his wife has said.

Sharon Rochester said husband, Keith, remains critically ill on the Caribbean island.

He was put on a life support system after becoming seriously ill in the middle of last month.

The 41-year-old is the brother of Christopher Rochester, of Chester-le-Street, who, died after falling from a balcony on the Greek Island of Rhodes in 2000 aged 24.

Doctors initially thought Keith Rochester had appendicitis, but when they operated, they found his pancreas had burst, leaking fluid around his internal organs.

Mrs Rochester said: “Keith has had more complications and remains critical. It is four weeks today since he took ill.

“I have no idea when this nightmare will end. My Cuban family are giving me lots of support are as my friends and family via Facebook which I am very grateful for.

“I am still trying to raise money to keep me here to support him.”

Mr Rochester’s family has raised almost £2,500 so far.
