A POLICE officer who has spent almost half his career enforcing licensing laws is planning to spend his retirement advising the pub trade.

Sergeant Tim Robson, 50, has worked his last day with the alcohol harm reduction unit at Durham Constabulary.

He officially retires next month and plans to set up a consultancy firm advising people on his particular area of expertise.

The father-of-two, who is married to Susan, with two step children has been working in licensing since 2001.

He said: “I am going to have a short break and then I am setting up my own company. I am moving over the ‘dark side’ if you like.

“I am going to be looking after pubs and clubs, the people I once fought against, so to speak.

“I want to relax a bit more and be my own boss for a bit and give back something to people who may be able to use my services.”

Sgt Robson, who lives in Chester-le-Street, worked as a regular officer in his hometown, Durham City and Consett before specialising.

He added: “It has been a fantastic 30 years working with a great family of people, creating memories that I will never forget.

“I hope that my colleagues will look after each other and stay safe.”
