A MUSEUM will host its annual leek show later this month.
Gardeners among the staff and visitors to Beamish Museum will compete over two days starting on Saturday, September 12.
The show includes classes for potatoes, onions, pea pods, tomatoes and even competitions for the longest bean, heaviest marrow and best misshapen vegetable.
There are flower categories too, for sweet peas, floral arrangements and miniature gardens.
Judging takes place on the Saturday morning and winners in each class are awarded a certificate and a commemorative rosette. The Show is open for visitors to view throughout the weekend.
Alongside the Beamish Show, members of Shield Row Allotment Association hold their own annual extravaganza of allotment-grown leeks, flowers and vegetables.
The event will close with a Grand Auction starting at 4pm on Sunday (Sept 13) with leeks, vegetables and floral entries going under the hammer.
