THOUSANDS of music fans will enjoy tributes to the Foo Fighters, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Blondie at a riverside festival next month.

The annual Fake Festival returns to Riverside Park in Chester-le-Street on Saturday, August 8 with some of the UK’s biggest tribute acts set to take to the stage.

Four Fighters, The Really Hot Chili Peppers and Blondied will headline the show, being staged in Chester-le-Street for the third year running.

Jez Lee, owner of Fake Festivals, said: “People have really embraced the tribute act scene, especially in the North-East, and this has been proven by the increasing tour dates each year that we have to put on to accommodate demand.”

“All of our tribute acts spend hours studying the real bands and performers, making sure that their moves, styling and sound is exactly like the real thing.

“They all put in a lot of hard work to their performances, which is why they are the best in the business.”

Joining the headliners on the Chester-le-Street leg of the tour will be five North-East support acts.

The show will be opened by guitar and piano duo Just So with performances by Chester-le-Street rockers Media Junkies; country rock band Outlander; and up-and-coming Newcastle bands The Heavy Jets and Keep Breathing.

“We are really lucky to have such talented musical artists in the region, and we were not short of applicants this year,” says Bec Evans, organiser of the Chester-Le-Street Fake Festival.

Advance tickets are £20 for adults, £10 for young people and free for the under 10s.
