WILDFLOWERS are to be planted at sites across Chester-le-Street for the second year running.

Chester-le-Street and District Area Action Partnership (AAP) has been working to plant the flowers across several areas of the town.

Several strips of land are being prepared now, which will become wild flowerbeds in the summer.

Local primary school children are helping to design ‘do not disturb’ signs to be placed in the beds as the flowers grow.

Derek Briggs, local resident said: “This was such a success last year and received such positive feedback, we were keen to build upon it and hope to expand it even further in future.”

Staff from Cestria Community Housing are carrying out the work which is being funded by Durham County Council’s Civic Pride team.
