THE family of a pensioner who died in a Bank Holiday car crash have paid tribute to him.
Raymond Armstrong, 79, from the village of Edmondsley near Chester-le-Street, County Durham, died on Good Friday (April 3) after the car he was in collided with another at Edmondsley Crossroads at 10am.
Mr Armstrong was in the back seat of the Hyundai Getz that collided with a Vauxhall Zafira.
He was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham, Durham City, where he later died from his injuries.
Other occupants of the car, a 53-year-old man and a 61-year-old woman, also from the village,
suffered minor injuries and needed hospital treatment.
The people in the Zafira, a 43-year-old man, a 32- year-old woman, and two girls, aged five and two, from Newcastle, also needed hospital treatment for minor injuries.
Mr Armstrong’s family said in a statement issued through police: “We'll always remember your caring heart, always knowing when we needed you and being there.
“We will always remember because there will never be another to replace you in our hearts. The love we have for you is eternal.”
The Durham force is asking any witnesses to the crash to call its collision investigation unit on the non-emergency number, 101.
