A FESTIVAL of Mod and Ska music will be held at Chester-le-Street’s Riverside later this year.

Stanley Events, who have organised two festivals in Stanley, will hold the one-day event on Sunday, May 24.

Headlining will be From The Jam, featuring bassist Bruce Foxton from the original line-up of The Jam in the late-70s, early-80s.

From TheJam’s show includes hits such as Down In The Tube Station At Midnight, Going Underground, and Town Called Malice.

"It is great for us to announce that Bruce Foxton will bring the Mod sound to the Riverside for our first major gig, " said Carl Marshall, of Stanley Events.

“ His band The Jam are an iconic group from that era and we know the people of the area will love the music and the setting we have for the festival."

Other bands on the bill are Ska hit-makers The Selecter, The Lambrettas and Secret Affair, with other acts to be confirmed.

"With a full day of themed music planned it is sure to be a great day to relax and enjoy the music and atmosphere and we have kept the ticket prices at a level that will attract all lovers of music," said Mr Marshall.

A limited number of super-early bird tickets are on sale for £20. Early bird tickets cost £25 and general admission tickets are £35.
