A CHESTER-le-Street school has been recognised for bringing the world into the classroom.
St Cuthbert’s RC Primary School has been awarded the British Council’s prestigious International School Award - a badge of honour for schools that do outstanding work in international education, such as through links with schools overseas.
The school’s international work included hosting a German exchange student, exchanging topic work with a partner school in Bangladesh, creating flags for Antarctica Day and having work displayed in a Scientific Research Centre in Antarctica.
It also had visitors from Bangladesh and had an international art exhibition.
Headteacher Clare Swales said: "This is the fourth time we have been accredited with this wonderful award as we initially gained it in 2004 when only a handful of primary schools in the North-East were successful.
“It is testament to the fantastic international work and language learning we do here at St Cuthbert’s, it’s just a way of life here."
John Rolfe, of the British Council, said: "The school’s fantastic international work has rightfully earned it this prestigious award."
