ALL aspects of Bulgarian music will be placed under the spotlight at a talk and recital in Durham City at the weekend.

Grey College, a constituent part of Durham University, will continue its popular public summer talks when world-renowned performer and music educator Antonina Lax appears at the college’s Fountain’s Hall at 2.15pm on Sunday.

Performing with Nick Brown, the duo will focus on the Bulgarian Suite for Flute and Piano by Assen Karastoyanov. The talk and recital will take about an hour, followed by a questions and answers session.

Antonina teaches piano at Barnard Castle School and prepares students for any grade or level up to MA.

She began her music and piano lessons aged seven at a local music school in the town of Yambol, Bulgaria.

When she turned 16 she moved to Russia to study piano at the Tyumen Art College, in the west Siberian city of Tyumen.

Henry Dyson, a fellow of Grey College, said: "We are delighted to welcome Antonia to Grey.

"Her talk and recital reflect the diversity of exciting topics we have during this summer season of public talks and we again look forward to greeting familiar and new faces."

The event is free and is open to members of the public.
