A MAN accused of taking part in a series of sneak burglaries in the same street, is to be sentenced for two of those offences next week.

Shaun James O’Kane denied three counts of attempted burglary and two of burglary of neighbouring premises in Stanley, at a plea hearing at Durham Crown Court last September.

The offences were all said to have taken place in Heather Way, on August 18.

But, the 32-year-old defendant, of Bircham Street, South Moor, Stanley, subsequently admitted two of those offences, pleas which were accepted by the prosecution.

The Crown has also, now, offered ‘no evidence’, and a formal not guilty verdict was recorded by Judge Christopher Prince, to a further charge of burglary, at an address in Westfields, Stanley, on August 5, last year.

O’Kane, who is in custody, will be sentenced on July 6.
