THE wait is almost over for the first pints to be pulled at a new micropub in a restored building at a main line railway station.
Finishing touches are being made to The Waiting Room, housed in a former storage building next to the public waiting area on Durham Railway Station’s northbound platform.
Licensee Graeme Robinson hopes to open the real ale house to the public tomorrow, but may not know until later today.
The restoration is intended to give the building its traditional 1872 look, with original windows being reinstated and stone sourced from the same quarry as when the platform was first built.
A free house, it will supply a range of cask ales, plus other drinks in an inttimate setting with doors leading to both the platform or to the rear approach road.
