POLICE have have arrested five teenagers after a fatal crash in a cul-de-sac at the weekend.
Tyler Clarke, was pronounced dead at the scene in Holland Park Drive, Jarrow, South Tyneside, in the early hours of yesterday morning
The 17-year-old is from the South Shields area.
A Northumbria Police spokesman said: "At about 3am, Sunday January 21, police received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Holland Park Drive in Jarrow.
"Emergency services attended the scene after a Mitsubishi Colt collided with a Land Rover Discovery.
"Sadly a 17-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. He has now been named as Tyler Clarke who was from the South Shields area.
"Five males aged between 15 and 18 have been arrested in connection with the collision.
"Inquiries are on-going and police are appealing for information."
Motor Patrols Sergeant Jason Ryder added: “Our thoughts are with Tyler’s family, they are being supported by family liaison officers as we carry out our inquiries.
“We would like to speak to any witnesses to the collision and would ask anyone who may have seen what happened to get in contact with us.”
