A SCHEME working with unemployed young people is offering training which will guarantee participants an interview at a hotel opening later this year.

DurhamWorks is running the scheme to give young people skills needed to work in hospitality.

Young people who complete the ten days of hands-on training will be guaranteed an interview at the new Hotel Indigo, which is opening in Durham city this spring.

The hotel and Marco Pierre White restaurant is due to open t in the Old Shire Hall, in Old Elvet, Durham.

Following the training, which will take place at Derwentside College, people will be able to interview for a number of roles, including bar supervisors, food and beverage assistants, chef de partie, commis breakfast chefs, kitchen porters and night porters.

The course starts on Monday, February 5 and is open to young people aged between 18 and 24, living in County Durham, who are not in education, employment or training.
