STAR Wars fans will be queueing at midnight to be first to see The Last Jedi, the latest episode of the intergalactic epic.

The Odeon Cinema at the intu Metrocentre, in Gateshead, is screening a Star Wars double bill tomorrow to mark the release of the eagerly-awaited blockbuster.

At 9pm on Wednesday, fans can relive the drama of The Force Awakens, followed by the new release at one minute past midnight.

The cinema is open 24 hours for the first day of release and there will be showings of the film, part eight of the hit sci-fi series, throughout the night.

Helen Atkinson, marketing manager of intu Metrocentre said: "There's always a fantastic atmosphere at Star Wars midnight screenings, with many fans dressing up as characters from the films - it's the only time you'll see a Stormtrooper snacking on popcorn or a Jedi Knight chatting to Darth Vader.

"Star Wars is one of the most popular film franchises of all time with generations of families being caught up in the timeless battle of good versus evil.

“We're sure visitors to intu Metrocentre will love being first in the queue to see the latest adventure in this classic series."
