PIZZA shop staff were threatened with an axe by three men during a robbery last night.

The Domino’s store in Newcastle was raided at around 11.50pm on Monday evening.

The trio entered the branch on Station Road in South Gosforth and demanded cash before fleeing.

One of the men headed in the direction of South Gosforth Metro station while two of the men fled towards the Hadricks Mill roundabouts.

A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: “Thankfully none of the staff were injured during the incident but they were left very shaken by what happened.

“Detectives are hunting for those responsible and are now appealing for anyone who may have information to get in touch.”

The men are thought to be in their mid-20s, and were wearing tracksuits and with scarves covering their faces. One of the men was described as being around 6ft4in.
